2012 was a busy year for Mike-Dash-E who coined the word “3rd World Hustle” and certainly lived up to it. MDE spent the majority of the year traveling, stepping up his clothing line “3 UP Clothing”, directing and starring in his own videos while running his own label Symphony Music Group. Now he’s back with his first full project since last January’s, I Am Hustle. The Burgundy Project, is a 10 track album from MDE, produced entirely by frequent collaborator Nick Maples of The HBK Gang, and presented by Thizzler.com. Backed by the pairing of soulful samples with bass heavy drums courtesy of Nick Maples. The Burgundy Project serves as the perfect outlet for MDE to express his “Hip-Hop Blues”. It both chronicles the highs and lows involved with pursuing a career in rap, while also carving out time to make sure that his music is still fun, by creating songs that Mike likes to refer to as “Soulful Ratchet”. With features from Erk Tha Jerk, Jay Ant, Symba, Rafael Casal, Iamsu!, Jeni Suk and Mike’s recent 3 UP additions: Adrian Per and P Mac, this album represents much of the best that The Bay has to offer.
