T: How did you connect with @cursedsocietybrand x Highly Hated Clothing?

YD: It’s all family, Highly Hated is a brand from my oldest brother that has been shot. He was a solider in the streets and that’s how Highly Hated came about. Cursed Society is by my god brother that’s been at part of my life since I was younger, both brands represent me and what I stand for.

Janky Mak G

Thizzler: Where are you from? How was your upbringing?

Janky Mak G: I’m from West Las Vegas, Martin Luther King and Carey to be exact. My upbringing was rough like every other black kid growing up in poverty as a minority family, hustling single moms and if pops is around he barely around, that was for most of us.

T: How did you all begin making music?

JMG: I began rapping in prison. I was like 15 years of age, I got certified as an adult and got sent to the hole for nine months and that’s when I started rapping on 23hour lockdown.

T: How would you describe your musical style?

JMG: My music style I feel like is ‘no genre’, which means i’m in all genres and can compliment any style of music but I have been called a reality rapper.

T: How would you describe the Las Vegas rap scene? Is it hard to get on?

JMG: The Las Vegas rap scene is building, it’s come a long way. I think it’s hard everywhere. We ain’t had that break through yet no major artist yet, once that happens in this time and era – we’ll fuck around and be some of the coldest artists ya’ll ever come ‘cross, it’s some gems out here.

T: How did you connect with @cursedsocietybrand x Highly Hated Clothing?

JMG: Grew up with them, simple as that’s my brothers. Pretty much I support anything they do I wouldn’t care if it was a wristband ya hear me.

T: What project(s) are you working on?

JMG: I just dropped a project this past summer called “Ima Herb” on all platforms and i’m currently working on a project called “The Lower Class”. I’m doing a bunch of videos and a bunch of promotional opportunities, pretty much tryna make myself a brand.

T: How is it different than previous drops?

JMG: I’m becoming more mainstream now, I feel i’ve conquered a certain level. I feel like making music the whole world will like. It’s a level beyond talent I grabbed in the streets, well i’m tryna level the streets up to our own kinda mainstream.

T: What message do you want fans to walk away with after listening?

JMG: I want ’em to play that shit again. I say a fan ain’t a fan until they put that shit on repeat or at least play your music once or twice a day.

T: What’s next?

JMG: Promo and grinding. We tryna get there.

T: Is there anything else you want to say?

JMG: Add me on IG: @jtm_mak702 and Twitter @SmokingShellz.
