Thizzler: Where are you from?
Jayy Hitta: I’m from the South side of Berkeley, CA. I was raised by my grandmother, my parents weren’t really in the picture.
T: How did you begin making music?
Jayy: I started making music in High School, I had this patna who had a lil setup at his house, and we used to make songs all day just for fun. I didn’t really take it serious until 2018 when I dropped my first album LilBigChoppa.
T: How did you get the name Jayy Hitta?
Jayy: I was making a Madden character and came up with the name. I just ran with it from there.
T: How would describe your musical style?
Jayy: Bay with a lil bit of Detroit and Chicago – depending on the vibe of the song.
T: What inspired the record?
Jayy: I’ve been tryna switch up my style a lil bit, playing with autotune and new beats. It’s the kind of music I listen to so I want my style to lean more this direction.
T: Is it a part of an album? If so, what makes this body of work different than others?
Jayy: The vibe is different. I’m starting to put more feeling in my songs so people can really feel it.
T: What message do you want fans to walk away with after listening to your music?
Jayy: No matter what you do in life it will be haters, just embrace it and keep it lit. If you feel like people’s energy is off, you don’t have to sit around it.
T: What’s next for you?
Jayy: I’m not sure right now. I’m honestly just focused on my cannabis brand Trixx. I will keep dropping music in the meantime. Just probably no projects for a while.
