Organized by Sacramento producer and songwriter, @tommiephoenix, this 21 song collaboration came together in just under 7 days and hosts a wide variety of production styles. 20 Sacramento musicians, operating under the moniker By Your Side, pooled their talents to release this incredible and diverse project. Weirdoze’s “I Can’t Breathe” and Alec Good’s “Anxious” clock in at just under two minutes, a bite-sized amount of time to deliver contemplative verses over heavy synth drum kits. Esquire Ali’s “Go Blackman” is a contestant to become one of the Black Lives Matter movement’s most joyous and celebratory songs. Amber DeLaRosa sings “America” over a simple yet moving guitar rhythm, and Basi Vibe begins “Piece of Mind” with a breathy spoken word intro. Beyond these few mentioned, there’s a multitude of perspectives that exist within the beautiful sonic journey that is By Your Side (In Solidarity With Black Lives). All profits will be allocated towards supporting Northern California protestors and communities spurred to action by the murder of George Floyd and other numerous injustices.
