Bla$ta does it by himself on his new album, Lone Wolf

Richmond rap has been strong in the past year. With acts like Cashclick Boog, Tay Way, Bez19, Weez Gotti, and Bla$ta. The last act mentioned is the North Richmond artist that we had a chance to talk to about his most recent release Lone Wolf. Having found rap pretty early in life, Bla$ta’s been at this for a while.

His career was put on pause when he was sent to prison for blown up gun charges that halted his progress for six long years. He continued to work on perfecting his craft while behind bars, and since he’s come home he has not slowed down his release schedule. Today we get his latest work Lone Wolf, a collection of solo records that finds Bla$ta making space room for himself to showcase how far he’s come. We got to speak with Bla$ta about his new album. Read on below.

Thizzler: Where are you from? How was your upbringing?

Bla$ta: I’m from North Richmond. My up was not normal….it was rough because of the area and obstacles in it.

T: How did you begin making music?

B: Listening to older rappers as a kid encouraged me to try.

T: How did you get your rap name?

B: I gotta my name off something I said in one of my very 1st songs as a youngin. I said, “B.E.C Blastin and I’m about that action.”

T: How would describe your musical style?

B: Musical style? I don’t know, I’ll leave that to the people.

T: Tell me about Lone Wolf

B: Lone Wolf is an all solo project for the people. I see a lot of people on Instagram and the comments ask for more solos [records]. So here goes Lone Wolf.

T: What inspired the album?

B: The project got its name from a part of my journey in life when I had to stand tall by myself. That’s where the lone part comes from. But in this rap shit, I’m a wolf!

T: What time in your life did you have to stand alone?

B: In prison, I had to learn to stand alone.

T: What message do you want fans to walk away with after listening?

B: To my fans, y’all keep giving me feedback on what y’all want to see me doing or who I should collab good with.

T: What’s next?

B: Next, I have 8400 Projects Siblings with WayMoBandzz, No LoiteringCoach Carter, and Yankee Baby’z 3. That’s what I got cooking for 2020.

T: Is there anything else you want to say?

B: Y’all go stream Lone Wolf!
