@ItsKamaiyah went head to head with her label a few weeks ago about the release of her music video for “Successful”. She went on Twitter and complained about Interscope wanting to push back the video’s release, but claimed that she would leak the damn thing herself if they tried to hold back the release. She delivered her new visual only for it to be pulled down hours later. Today the video has it’s official release.
“Successful” is a triumphant record produced by Oakland’s own Stunna June. The new record, like Kamaiyah’s hit “How Does It Feel” is about coming up rags to riches and living a fruitful life as a result of hard work and grind. It makes use of Kamaiyah’s brand of melody and retro aesthetic while also showcasing Stunna June’s penchant for crafting catchy early 2000s-esque pop-leaning hip-hop production.
