@ProjectPoppa65 memorializes his cousin Reggina Jefferies, who was killed last Summer in downtown Oakland while attending a vigil for two other teens. The Xaltus Media shot and directed visual finds Poppa alone in a dance studio, opened in Reggina’s honor, as he reflects on his cousin’s life as well as the sometimes violent atmosphere of his hometown that creates a climate in which such tragedy can occur. We also catch glimpses of her loved ones gathering around her photos. While Project Poppa laments the violence that can occur in his city, he also understands that in order to survive in this atmosphere it’s sometimes neccesary to participate in it.
