Kamaiyah, Drake & YG shoot video for “Why You Always Hatin’?”
@Kamaiyah continues her path to super stardom with her biggest video shoot to date. Lil Yaya and @Drake pulled up to film the video for one of the biggest records on @YG ‘s Still Brazy, “Why You Always Hatin’?”. A video of this stature is certain to make major waves in the rap game and put even more eyes on Kamaiyah. What’s next for East Oakland’s hottest commodity?
Philthy Rich enlists Birdman to host Hood Rich 4
@PhilthyRichFOD has a star studded tracklist for his upcoming Hood Rich 4, but the biggest stunt is that the Sem City Money Man enlisted Cash Money head honcho Birdman to host the upcoming mixtape! Birdman and Philthy have been seen together and have been showing each other love and sharing each other’s content on social media. The two have been getting really close and Birdman’s inclusion of the #CashMoneyRichGang hash tag on his posts about Philthy can only make us wonder if Philthy will be the newest signee.
Larry June & Ezale are the latest to “Keep It Colt 45”
Colt 45 Malt Liquor has been grabbing killer artists to be the face of their beverage in the recent ‘Keep it Colt 45’ campaign. In the past they’ve recruited Juicy J, OG Maco, and Lil Debbie, and now San Francisco’s Larry June and Oakland’s Ezale make appearances in the most recent “Keep it Colt 45” commercial. The two give viewers a breakdown of their approach to creating slaps in the studio, and obviously they have plenty of drank on deck. Watch Larry and Ezale do their thing in this Colt 45 promo below.
Daveed Diggs makes the move from Broadway to cable TV, landing a spot on NBC’s Blackish
The talented and multifaceted Daveed Diggs spent the past year on Broadway’s Tony award winning play, Hamilton. Now, he’s planning to take the next big leap in his career. Daveed was more than happy to announce his upcoming role on ABC’s ‘Blackish. Diggs will play Johan, Rainbow’s (Tracee Elliss Ross) brother, who often butts heads with Dre (Anthony Anderson), Rainbow’s husband. It’s dope to see the Bay’s own shine in a major way, and getting a big role on a major TV sitcom is definitely a good look for the Oakland native.
Two of the Bay Area’s most beloved Hip Hop moms share a touching moment
Mac Wanda (mother of Mac Dre) and Mama Reatha (mother of The Jacka) shared a photo of their meeting at the 1st annual Dre Day concert a few weeks ago. Both of their sons had a huge impact on the Bay Area and beyond, and even though they were taken from us way too soon it’s dope to see the two hip-hop mom’s connecting to keep their legacy alive.
