Desta Dawn is a rising new voice from Oakland. Her most recent effort 602, named after her birthday, showcases a bold dedication to the R&B and soul music that exists outside of the use of 808’s and rolling hihats. It truly feels like an effort you’d have to time travel back at least a decade to get. The short project provides an immersive experience filled with songs about love and heartbreak.
