It’s hard to remember a time before the HBK Gang was synonomous with Bay Area Hip-Hop. The crew that sprouted out of the Richmond/Pinole area has made a huge name for itself, claiming acts such as IAMSU!, Sage The Gemini and Kehlani. If you’re like me one of the first offerings that you remember hearing from the now inescapable crew was LoveRance’s single “Up!”.
The raunchy club record which featured IAMSU! & HBK Skipper was a huge success, reaching no. 70 on the Billboard 100 and even garnering LoveRance a record deal with Interscope and a remix from 50 Cent. This was around the same time KMEL would play joints like “Swaggin All Day”, (who didn’t love “Swaggin All Day”!?) and since then the HBK Gang has had our hearts and support.
