To get you ready for the upcoming release of his new project Bermuda, Part 1: God on September 29th, East Oakland emcee Young Gully drops the official video for the fan favorite “Bad Guy” off of last year’s HM5: Deluxe Edition. Along with the potent lyricism, news clips of black men being killed by police scattered throughout the video portray a strong message. “When these events happen, the media saturates the point of view and would rather make it into a spectacle than actually address the issues, ” says director Wooyeon Cho, “Gully is a young black male who has been through situations similar to these and could easily have been one of these murders. While he expresses that pain and perspective through the song, the news clips we chose show that reality visually.”
