I first heard about East Oakland emcee WORDUP through some of the Peach St. homies. I checked out a few songs from his first mixtape, and thought he was aight. Then he came through to our Fight Club freestyle battle and ripped every emcee in his path into pieces (and there was some good competition that night). So we shot an Under The Bay interview (the last one of Season 3) and it went pretty well. THEN I saw him kill it at the 2nd ADIDAS Earn Your Stripes Cypher (the 1st one I ever went to) and I realized that there was something dope going on here. That’s why when he told me he was dropping a new mixtape called Photosynthesis, I was hella excited to hear it. And once he played it for me, I knew Thizzler On The Roof had to be a part of it. So today Thizzler On The Roof is proud to be presenting WORDUP’s ode to the sun, just in time for the end of summer. Bump this ya’ll!

The Photosynthesis Tape defined would be: to make something GREAT out of nothing, or very little to start with. To me, Photosynthesis is our returning to the origin of Hip Hop Culture, Community, & Heritage. My Photosynthesis Tape means to love; to love yourself and the world around you. – Wordup
