The following music video was shot in Oakland, California on the days leading up to, and on the day of the People vs. Mehserle verdict in the Oscar Grant case. Although the song “Pop Off” by Roach Gigz isn’t specifically about the tragic murder of Oscar Grant, we wanted to capture the atmosphere in Oakland and the Bay Area during this time. At the end of the day, an innocent, unarmed, young man was intentionally shot in his back by a cop while he was being pinned down by multiple police officers on a BART train platform. A daughter lost
a father, and a mother lost a son. All prayers go out to Oscar Grant’s family. We won’t let up until justice has been served. The Bay Area says GUILTY.
