As seen on @38thNotes:
To some, Sade’s seductively haunting vocals and Droop-E’s traditionally hyphy production, may seem like a strange marriage, but perhaps those people aren’t giving E-40’s son enough credit. Droop-E didmake his name producing tracks like “Supasicwidit” for Mistah FAB and a bevy of beats for his pops, but he’s no one trick pony. Perhaps the most telling sign of his evolution is “Spend The Night” (below) on E-40’s latest release Revenue Retrievin’. He cobbled that instrumental together using Bjork acapella samples, creating an eclectic clash of artsy and hood. Needless to say, it’s a dope concoction.
BLVCK DIAMOND LIFE is a forthcoming mixtape that continues his experimental blending of genres by reworking the catalogue of his favorite singer, Sade. As the title might imply, he has partnered with BLVCK SCVLE Clothing and Diamond Supply for this release to add a street savvy counter-balance to Sade’s smooth soul. In the video below, we get a taste of Droop-E’s new opus as he talks about the BLVCK SCVLE partnership at their flagship store in SF.
