Another cut off San Francisco hip-hop trio BPos‘ debut album The Upside, this track is a melancholy reminder of how underground artists are pressured to change their style to be more accessible to the mainstream. Goodword and D-Wiz paint a vivid picture of major labels’ reluctance to support new styles in music, instead opting to go with “the safest choice”, over soulful production from San Jose’s Bump Analog and ill scratches from DJ Johnny Venetti.
You can buy BPos’ The Upside for $10 in the Thizzler Record Store, see interviews with Goodword and D-Wiz on Under The Bay, and listen to the previous leaked track from the album, Shady. They are releasing their new mixtape The POS Tapes Volume 1 this September, so keep your eyes peeled for that as well! (Bet that Thizzler On The Roof will have some exclusive first looks at the Tape before it drops!) And if you’re in the Bay Area, you can see BPos live with Myka 9 (of Freestyle Fellowship) and Medusa (of Project Blowed) August 5th at Club 6! It’s gunna be crackin’…
